Kumihimo is the traditional Japanese technique of braiding strands of silk to create intricately coloured cord. The cords, we have called kumihimo braids  are strong but also slender, and have a multitude of uses. Samurai once used kumihimo as laces for their armour. The traditional belt of the Kimono, the Obi, was once bound by a cord of kumihimo called an Obijime. It is an art both culturally significant and beautiful. We hope you enjoy the Kumihimo braids as much as we have creating them.

Please note colours may vary in the photographs due to the use of different devices and screen settings. Most our products are ornamental or practical and not suitable for children under 5 years old. Please do not wash them unless they have washing instrcutions and please keep away from naked flames. As with any item kept in direct sunlight, bleaching may occur. Resin is pretty hard-wearing but please avoid submerging your pieces in water, resin is only water resistant. Please avoid leaving your resin items in the sun or placed in environments of extreme temperatures for long periods of time as the resin can discolour and soften.

Our needle felted items have used pure Merino Wool. Needles used for crafting are often very thin, sometimes fitted in holders that allow the user to utilize 2 or more needles at one time to sculpt and manipulate the wool into objects and shapes. The single thin needles are used for detail and the multiple needles that are paired togther are used for larger areas or to form the base of the project. At any point in time a variety of woollen fibres may be added for detail and individuality, using needles to incorporate them accurately into the project.

The earrings have origami; needle felting; resin; sterling silver or semi precious beads added. These additions are secured on the fine Sterling Silver wire by carefully heating the silver to create the end bead. Each one will  differ slightly because it has been handmade. The wire and end bead are then Pickled to remove the fire scale caused by annealing the silver. Our Sterling Silver is treated with the utmost care and respect to ensure that the piece you receive will be enjoyed and cherished for the precious item it is.

Your origami earrings are not waterproof though have a thin layer of water resistant. When choosing to wear a pair of our earrings ensure that it is the last item you put on. Select your jewellery after you have applied make-up, perfume and hairspray to avoid unnecessary contact with any of these chemicals to ensure they remain pristine and unaltered. We recommend that the Sterling Silver is carefully cleaned using a specialist Silver Cleaning Cloth. We recommend that you do not sleep in your earrings; swim or shower in them and remove them prior to exercise. You may want to show off your jewellery on the beach but the direct sunlight, sand and salt water will do them no favours, rather save them to wow when having cocktails later. Avoid exposing your resin to harsh chemicals and cleaning products. This includes perfume, hair spray, cleaning solutions, nail polish remover, antibacterial hand sanitiser etc. Solvents will react with the epoxy and cause it to become scaly, yellow, chip or break down completely. Do not allow your resin jewelry to become extremely cold or hot. For example, don't leave it in a car on a hot day.  If it does become extremely hot, it will become malleable - just allow to cool to room temperature before handling excessively.
